MOSCOW, August 26 (Itar-Tass) — Flights of Mi-24 helicopters have been temporarily suspended after a Mi-24 helicopter of the Russian Defence Ministry crashed in Primorye earlier on Friday, a spokesman for the Russian Eastern Military District told Tass.
The plane made a rough landing 20 kilometres northeast of the Chernikovka settlement (Primorye) at 12:16 Moscow time on Friday, while on a planned training flight, he said.
“When the helicopter hit the ground it caught fire, as a result of which one crewmember was killed,” the military source said. “Two other pilots were not injured,” the spokesman said.
“There were no casualties or destructions on the ground,” he added. A special commission has been set up and dispatched to the crash site by direction of Eastern Military District Commander, Admiral Konstantin Sidenko.
