Yulia Skripal's condition said to be improving rapidly
According to the doctors, her condition is now "stable"
LONDON, March 29. /TASS/. The condition of Russian citizen Yulia Skripal, daughter of former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal, "improving rapidly" and no longer considered as critical, the Salisbury District Hospital said on Thursday.
"Her condition is now stable. She is no longer in a critical condition," medics said in a statement adding that Mr. Skripal remained in a critical but stable condition.
"I'm pleased to be able to report an improvement in the condition of Yulia Skripal. She has responded well to treatment but continues to receive expert clinical care 24 hours a day," Dr. Christine Blanshard, Medical Director for Salisbury District Hospital, is quoted by the ITV channel as saying.
On March 4, former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal, convicted in Russia of spying for Britain, and his daughter Yulia - if the British version of the events is to be believed - were affected by a nerve gas in Salisbury. London later claimed that the agent had been developed in Russia and accused Moscow of complicity in the incident. Russia strongly dismissed these speculations, saying no programs for making this substance had ever existed in the Soviet Union or modern Russia. Without presenting any proof London expelled 23 Russian diplomats and took other anti-Russian measures. Moscow retaliated by expelling as many British embassy staff and issued orders to close down the British general consulate in St. Petersburg and terminating the activity of the British Council in Russia.
