Beijing and Moscow have reached full understanding on the North Korea issue and put forward constructive initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis
BEIJING, December 1. /TASS/. The global community should pool its efforts to resolve the North Korea issue following the example of China and Russia, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang said at a press briefing on Friday. According to him, Beijing and Moscow have reached full understanding on the North Korea issue and put forward constructive initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis.
"China and Russia have a common stance on the Korean Peninsula issue, maintaining contact with each other," he said. "Both countries have come up with initiatives to resolve the issue peacefully, putting forward clear and understandable projects, which may help find a way out of the current situation," the Chinese diplomat added. "We hope that all the interested parties will adopt a sincere and positive attitude, pooling their efforts to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula in order to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible," Geng Shuang stressed.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, the North Korean authorities "fully understand the importance of initiatives aimed at de-escalating the conflict, which were proposed by China and Russia."
On November 29, North Korea conducted a missile launch, the first since September 15. North Korea’s Central News Agency (KCNA) said that the Hwasong-15 missile had covered a distance of 950 kilometers during its 53-minute flight, reaching an altitude of 4,475 kilometers. According to the Japanese Defense Ministry, the missile plunged into the sea in Japan's exclusive economic zone, 250 kilometers west off the coast of Japan’s Aomori Prefecture.
