At least 109 were injured in a bomb and gun attack on a mosque in the north of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula
CAIRO, November 24. /TASS/. At least 235 people were killed and 109 injured in a terror attack on a mosque in Egypt’s North Sinai region on Friday, the country’s prosecutor-general’s office reported.
Egypt’s Prosecutor-General, Nabil Sadek, ordered to deploy a team of crime-scene investigators to the site in the community of Bir Al-Abed, 30 km west of Arish, as well as State Security prosecutors and prosecutors of the Ismailia Governorate to investigate into the circumstances of the tragedy.
The organized attack on the Al Rawdah mosque was carried out during a weekly Friday noon congregation prayer. The terrorists approached the building in four off-roaders, set off a bomb among hundreds of worshippers and opened fire when people ran for their lives.
According to the information available, six perpetrators were involved in the attack. Three days of mourning were declared in the country.
