Participants in the Geneva talks should have a meaningful discussion on all issues on the previously agreed agenda, including the war on terror, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following consultations between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, the Syrian government delegation and representatives of the Syrian opposition.

"The parties discussed the negotiation process and the prospects of the intra-Syrian talks under the United Nations auspices," the statement reads.

"Russia reiterated the importance of the full implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 2254," the statement adds. "Russia emphasized that the parties needed to discuss all issues on the previously agreed agenda, particularly including the war on terror." According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, "during the meeting, the work on a new constitution was highlighted as a priority task since it aims at outlining Syria’s future state structure." "The parties praised Russia’s role in the search for the ways to settle the Syrian crisis and expressed their readiness to maintain regular contacts with Russian representatives in various formats," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
