Belarus to stamp on any conflict unleashed as in Ukraine, president says
"I cannot allow that the Ukraine-like conflict could be staged in Belarus," President Alexander Lukashenko said
MINSK, March 24. /TASS/. Belarus will stamp on any conflict unfolding in the worst-case scenario like in Ukraine, President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday.
"The Ukrainian situation in Belarus is not mine," Lukashenko said, quoted by the BelTA news agency as saying. "I cannot allow that the Ukraine-like conflict could be staged in Belarus."
"Somebody wants to explode the situation and they are using our scums," he said. "They have come to digging pits, like guerilla fighters, and hiding weapons, bars, axes, knives, grenades and so on. They used to say, ‘We are teaching patriotism to children’. Do they teach children with live grenades?"
The Belarussian president said, "somebody’s hands are itching."
"Nevertheless, there exists a certain barrier which no-one must trespass to violate the law and constitution," he went on to say. "Given the authorities cannot see it, a chain reaction will follow that is hard to be stopped as millions of people will be drawn into."
