GENEVA, March 1. /TASS/. Power transfer was discussed at a meeting between representatives of the Syrian opposition’s High Negotiations Committee (HNC) and UN Special Representative for Syria Staffan de Mistura, Head of the HNC delegation Nasr al-Hariri said after the consultations with the envoy on Wednesday.

"We held a very useful and lengthy meeting with Mr. Staffan de Mistura and the UN team," he said.

"Let us note that we discussed the issue of power transfer that topped the agenda," he added.

Al-Hariri noted that this theme was discussed for the first time and was debated for long. Today’s consultations lasted more than three hours.

"Power transfer is a key to security and stability in Syria. This is the sole way that can be followed to achieve eradication of terrorism," he added.

The head of the HNC delegation expressed the opinion that the UN was ready to provide full support to the efforts of attaining peaceful settlement.
