Savchenko claims to have met with six Ukrainian war prisoners in DPR
The Rada member also said that on Saturday she planned to visit other prisoners
KIEV, February 24. /TASS/. Nadezhda Savchenko, an unaffiliated member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament), claims to have met with six Ukrainian war prisoners kept in Makeyevka’s Western penal colony in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
"We have seen two cells and met with six of our war prisoners. I have talked to our guys," Savchenko wrote on Facebook adding that she had handed to the prisoners some things provided by their family members.
The Rada member also said that on Saturday she planned to visit other prisoners. "We will wait until tomorrow. They have promised that we will have a chance to visit everybody whose name is on the ‘Minsk lists’," Savchenko said.
On Friday, the Ukrainian lawmaker arrived in the DPR in order to meet with the Ukrainian war prisoners kept in the Western penal colony in Makeyevka. She is accompanied by Vladimir Ruban, head of the Center for Prisoner Release of the Ukrainian Officer Corps Public Organization, and Darya Morozova, DPR’s Human Rights Ombudsperson. During her visit, Savchenko called upon the leaders of the Normandy Quartet member states (Russia, France, Germany and Ukraine) to facilitate the "all for all" prisoner exchange.
