Interests of Kurds unaffected by Russian-Iranian-Turkish cooperation in Syria

MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. Collaboration that Russia, Iran and Turkey are maintaining the sphere of peace settlement in Syria does not affect the interests of the Kurdish people in any way, Asya Abdullah, the co-chairperson of the Democratic Union Party told a news conference titled ‘The Middle East: Struggle for Redrawing the Spheres of Influence and Its Possible Results’.
The Democratic Union Party is a Kurdish left-wing political organization operating in northern Syria.
"As for the Russian-Iranian-Turkish relations, their progress doesn’t encroach on the Kurds’ interests," Asya Abdullah said.
Along with it, she said Turkish forces’ strikes at the positions of Kurdish units in Syria "serve the interests of the Islamic State grouping." "The international community should react to the (Turkish) actions when Turkey’s warplanes cross the border into Syria and deliver strikes at our positions," Abdullah said.
Anwar Muslim, the head of the Kurdish self-proclaimed Kobani Canton commented on the U.S. proposal to establish security zones on the Syrian territory. "The UN hasn’t made any official statements on the issue yet and the world community hasn’t formulated a clear position."
"But if you look at the issue from the standpoint upheld by Turkey - and it consists in establishing a security zone on the territories under its control right now - the actions it has undertaken means occupation of a foreign country’s territory," Muslim said.
