MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. The defense and foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey and Iran will discuss the settlement in Syria in Moscow on December 20, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service reported on Monday.
"On December 20, 2016, Moscow will host a meeting of the defense and foreign ministers of the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey dedicated to the Syrian settlement and aimed at facilitating the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions," the press service said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov hopes to discuss the situation in Syria with those who can really influence it during a meeting with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts in Moscow on December 20.
"I expect to discuss in detail with those who can really influence the improvement of the situation on the ground under the circumstances where our Western partners focus on rhetoric, propaganda and are exerting no influence on those who heed them," he said answering a question from a TASS correspondent.
He declined to make more specific forecasts about the results of the meeting saying only, "We shall see." "(The meeting) is scheduled (for tomorrow), we hope it will take place," Lavrov noted.
