Trump points to irregularities within Democratic party revealed by cyberattacks
The US media have been making allegations that Wikileaks received this information from Russia-backed hackers, however, no evidence to prove the allegations has been provided so far
NEW YORK, December 16. /TASS/. Hackers helped reveal irregularities within Democratic Party, US President-Elect Donald Trump pointed out.
In March, Wikileaks reported that CNN commentator Donna Brazile had provided a debate question to Hillary Clinton's team. Brazile remained commentator until July when she became Interim chair of the Democratic National Committee. Previous chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz had to step down when WikiLeaks released emails confirming that she had been violating the DNC charter throughout the primaries by failing to remain neutral as she used an ostensibly neutral group to rig the primaries for Clinton. Apart from Wasserman Schultz, a number of other DNC officials also had to resign after that.
Cyber attack allegations
The US media as well as some officials have been making allegations that Wikileaks received this information from some Russian-backed hackers, however, no evidence to prove the allegations has been put forward so far.
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has been reiterating that there is no evidence that Russia’s secret services could have influenced the outcome of the US presidential election.
According to NBC, the Obama administration does not rule out that some unprecedented actions could be taken in response to Russia’s alleged interference in the presidential elections. The administration has ordered the intelligence community to conduct a full review of Russia’s alleged electoral interference to be completed before Trump's inauguration. Senator John McCain said he would launch an investigation under the auspices of the Senate Armed Services Committee, of which he is chairman. However, McCain has acknowledged that there was "no information" that the hacking of American political organizations was aimed at affecting the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.
