Japanese PM hopes to hold comprehensive talks with Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive to Japan on a two-day visit on Thursday
TOKYO, December 15. /TASS/. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to hold comprehensive talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the calm environment.
"From all my heart, I welcome President Putin’s arrival to my hometown of Nagato in the Yamaguchi prefecture," Abe told reporters at the Tokyo Haneda Airport before departing for Yamaguchi. "I hope to hold comprehensive talks with him in the calm environment. I spoke to former residents of the (Kuril) Islands before that. With thoughts of aspirations of those people, I will hold talks today as a representative of Japan," he added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive to Japan on a two-day visit on Thursday. He will hold several rounds of talks in different formats with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. On the first day, the meeting at the highest level will take place at the residence of the Japanese prime minister in his hometown ― a city of Nagato in the Yamaguchi prefecture in the south-west of the Honshu Island. On Friday, December 16, Putin and Abe will take part in several events in Tokyo.
