Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirm readiness to make joint efforts to start evacuating civilians from Aleppo
ANKARA, December 14. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said in his telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Ankara is ready to take any measures to help refugees from Aleppo, TRT TV channel reported on Thursday citing sources in the Turkish Presidential Administration.
According to the channel, the two leaders confirmed readiness to make joint efforts to start evacuating civilians from Aleppo. Erdogan said that Turkey is ready to provide shelter and humanitarian aid to residents leaving Aleppo.
The two presidents also stressed the importance of countering attempts to violate ceasefire agreement that was reached on Tuesday evening, the channel said.
The Kremlin press service said earlier that Putin and Erdogan held a telephone conversation. They "continued exchanging opinion on the Syrian issue" and discussed the recent developments in Aleppo. The two leaders made an emphasis on the importance of "expanding joint efforts with the aim of improving the humanitarian situation, facilitating the launch of a real political process in Syria." They also confirmed readiness "for further active cooperation on neutralizing the terrorist threat" in the Middle East, the press service noted.
