42 ceasefire violations reported in Syria in 24 hours ― Russian reconciliation center
Four agreements on joining the cessation of hostilities have been signed in the Syrian regions of Latakia and Tartus in the past 24 hours
MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Illegal armed groups in Syria have opened fire 42 times in the Syrian regions of Aleppo, Damascus, Daraa, Latakia and Quneitra, the Russian reconciliation center said in its daily news bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s official website on Wednesday.
In the Damascus province, Jaysh al-Islam armed units affiliated with the opposition, opened fire with mortars and small arms on the settlements of Jobar, Buzinah, Maydaa, Harasta (twice), Barzeh, Kafr-Batna, Hawsh Faddaliya, the Ibn al-Walid hospital, a farm near the settlement of Harasta and an automobile road near the settlement of Douma.
Ahrar al-Sham units opened fire with mortars, small arms, air defense guns, unmanned aircraft carrying an explosive device on the districts of settlements of Salaheddin in the city of Aleppo, the populated localities of Ayn al-Qantara, Rasha and the positions of government troops near Abu Ali mountain in the Latakia region.
Outlawed in Russia, the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terrorist group (known by its former name of Jabhat al-Nusra) shelled with multiple missile launchers, cannon artillery, mortars, grenade launchers and small arms Aleppo’s districts of Binyamin (twice), Jamaya Fateh, Dahya al-Assad, Ramouse, al-Zahrah, al-Hamriya, Bustan al-Qasr, Amri, Jamariya Harb al-Zahra (twice), Karim Nazaha, ‘1070’, the al-Assad military academy, the watermelon market and Castello shopping mall.
In the Damascus region, terrorists shelled the settlements of Jobar, Hawsh Harabu, Hawsh Nasri, Hawsh al-Shalaq, Arbil and the sports ground in the settlement of Jobar (twice). In the Daraa region the settlements of Karf, Daraa and Namer came under terrorists’ shelling.
"Russia’s Aerospace Force and Syria’s Air Force have not been delivering strikes on opposition armed units that had announced the cessation of hostilities and reported their location to the Russian or US reconciliation centers," the center said.
Ceasefire agreements
Four agreements on joining the cessation of hostilities have been signed in the Syrian regions of Latakia and Tartus in the past 24 hours, the Russian reconciliation center said.
"The number of populated localities that joined the reconciliation process has increased to 1,055," the bulletin says.
"Talks on joining the cessation of hostilities are ongoing with the field commanders of illegal armed units in the settlement of Muaddamiyet al-Shih in the Damascus region and with groups of armed opposition in the regions of Homs, Hama, Aleppo and Quneitra," it added.
"The number of armed groups that pledged their commitments to accepting and fulfilling the conditions of the cessation of hostilities has remained unchanged ― 94," the document says.
Humanitarian aid
Over the past 24 hours, two humanitarian missions have been carried out. Nearly three tonnes of aid was distributed among civilians at New Aleppo’s temporary shelters and the same amount ― among civilians at the temporary shelters in the Ansari district of the embattled city.
Special centers keep operating in the city of Aleppo, providing hot meals and daily necessities to civilians who flee the districts controlled by illegal armed groups, the center said.
Russian reconciliation center
The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeymim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
