Ukrainian MP proposes building 'security belt' to fence off Donbass
A lawmaker proposes to adopt a law on temporarily occupied territories, to make every effort to provide local residents with humanitarian convoys
KIEV, December 14. /TASS/. Donbass territories not controlled by Kiev should be fenced off, First Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on National Security and Defense Semyon Semenchenko said on Wednesday.
"Me and the Samopomich faction propose to adopt a law on temporarily occupied territories, to temporarily fence off these territories, to build a powerful security belt, to make every effort to provide local residents with humanitarian convoys from Ukraine and food from the international community, to help thousands and millions of displaced persons," Semenchenko told Golos Stolitsy radio station.
At the same time, he said that official Kiev does not want to resolve humanitarian problems in Donbass.
"When they say that humanitarian convoys are not allowed to enter those territories, they are just redistributing fantasies made up at the Presidential Administation," he noted.
