Donald Trump has been named Time’s Person of the Year on Wednesday. The US president-elect shared the big news himself - in a morning interview with "Today", minutes before the official announcement.
“It’s a great honor. It means a lot,” the US president-elect said. “It’s a very important magazine and I’ve been lucky enough to be on the cover many times this year.”
Barack Obama was named the Person of the Year after both of his elections in 2008 and 2012.
Trump beat out ten other finalists, including Hillary Clinton.
The magazine began awarding its Person of the Year honor in 1927. The prize goes to the person who influenced the news most.
