Pediatrician Vadim Arsentyev received grave wounds when a Russian makeshift hospital was shelled in Syria's Aleppo
MOSCOW, December 6./TASS/. Russian pediatrician Vadim Arsentyev, wounded in Syria’s Aleppo, has been airlifted to Moscow and taken to the Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital, the Defense Ministry’s department for information and mass communications said.
"Pediatrician Vadim Arsentyev, who received grave wounds in Aleppo, has been taken to the Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital of the Russian Defense Ministry for medical treatment and rehabilitation," it said.
Last night, a helicopter equipped with a medical module airlifted the wounded medic to the Russian Hmeimin air base in Syria. He underwent surgery and received high-quality medical treatment. On Tuesday, a military-transport plane airlifted Vadim Arsentyev to an airfield outside Moscow.
"The condition of the Russian medic is assessed as stable. A team of medics from the Burdenko hospital studies the wounds and after a consultation of leading specialists in battlefield medicine, a course of treatment and rehabilitation will be prescribed," the report said.
As reported earlier, on December 5, a Russian makeshift hospital established in Aleppo by the defense ministry, came under artillery fire from the militants while doctors were seeing local residents. The attack killed two Russian nurses, Nadezhda Durachenko and Galina Mikhailova, while pediatrician Vadim Arsentyev suffered serious wounds.
