UN, December 6. /TASS/. The Syrian government forces with the support of their allies managed to release some 100,000 civilians from militant-held eastern Aleppo districts, Syria’s UN Ambassador Bashar Jaafari said.

"The release of about 100,000 civilians in Aleppo, including dozens of thousands of children, was not in the plans of the ‘three musketeers’ governments and their puppets," the Syrian diplomat said at a session of the UN Security Council, referring to the United States, the United Kingdom and France, who share a fierce anti-Syrian government stance. The ambassadors of these states walked out of the room before the envoy started his speech.

Jaafari said that the countries who really care about the plight of the Syrian people "should knock on the door of the Syrian government" and offer support.

In mid-November the Syrian government forces have started an operation to drive militants from eastern regions of Aleppo, a city 360 kilometers from the capital Damascus. According to UN estimates, the area is home to 270,000 people.

On Monday the UN Security Council failed to adopt a draft resolution to introduce a seven-day initial ceasefire in Aleppo, the scene of fierce fighting between the Syrian government forces and various militant groups. The document was vetoed by Russia and China.
