Reconciliation agreements signed with 6 Syrian settlements — Russian Defense Ministry
"The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 1,018," the Russian reconciliation center said
MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Reconciliation agreements were signed during the day with representatives of six more settlements in Syria, including two in the province of Hama, two in the province of Latakia, one in the province of Damascus and one in the province of Homs, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its regular daily bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s official website on Friday.
"The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 1,018," the center said. "Talks on joining the regime of cessation of hostilities were continued with field commanders of illegal armed groups in the province of Damascus and commanders of armed opposition groups in the provinces of Homs, Hama, Aleppo and al-Quneitra."
The number illegal armed groups that declared their commitment to the ceasefire terms remains unchanged — 88, as follows from the bulletin.
Ceasefire violations
A total of 37 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, including 19 in the province of Aleppo, 16 in the province of Damascus, and two in the province of Daraa, the Russian reconciliation center said.
"In the province of Damascus, armed groups of the Jaysh al-Islam organization which affiliates itself with the opposition shelled from mortars and firearms the settlement of Jobar, Kabun, Harasta, Mathanat al-Hussainiya and Hawsh Faddaliya. In the province of Aleppo, Ahrar al-Sham armed groups shelled from mortars the district of Sheikh Hasr. Armed groups of the Free Syrian Army shelled from mortars Aleppo’s districts of Hai al-Antari and Salah al-Din," the Russian center said.
Armed groups of the terrorist organizations Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra) and Islamic State (both outlawed in Russia) shelled the settlement of Ansar in the province of Aleppo and Aleppo’s districts of Binyamin, 1070, Sheikh Said (three times), Amri, Jamaiya Faht, Al-Salhine, Leramon, Karim Mukhas, Karim Jazmati, the Al-Assad military academy (twice), the Castello trade center, and an area near a cardboard factory, as follows from the bulletin.
"In the province of Damascus, terrorists shelled the settlements of Hawsh Nasri (twice), Arbil (four times), Hawsh Harabu (twice), Bleliye and Douma, a sports groups in the settlement of Jobar and the Al-Wafidin camp. In the province of Daraa, terrorists shelled the settlements of Dilli and Harbat al-Gazala," the bulletin says.
No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or US reconciliation centers about their locations, the Russian center reported.
Humanitarian efforts
Apart from that, according to the Russian center, efforts are continued to relieve the humanitarian situation in Syria. Two humanitarian operations were conducted during the day. Thus, about four tonnes of humanitarian cargoes were delivered to Aleppo’s district Hananu-3 and the al-Mahalej refugee camp, and about one tonne was delivered to Damascus’ district of Seid Naya.
"Hot meals and living essentials distribution outlets are open for civilians leaving Aleppo’s neighborhoods controlled by illegal armed groups," the bulletin says.
The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeymim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
