Kiev marks on Monday the third anniversary of the start of mass riots that led to a coup in February 2014. Deep crisis embraced Ukraine at the end of 2013, when then-President Viktor Yanukovych suspended the signing of an association agreement with the European Union to study the deal more thoroughly. The move triggered mass riots that eventually led to a coup in February 2014. The coup claimed dozens of lives.

The central part of the city has been cordoned off by the police since Monday’s morning, mass rallies and marches are being held there.
