Germany expects no tangible progress in Syrian settlement until Trump’s inauguration
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has voiced concern over the bombing raids in Aleppo
BERLIN, November 21. /TASS/. There can be no serious steps that would lead to a political solution in Syria until new US President, Donald Trump, assumes office, German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, said on Monday, after a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Ibrahim al-Jaafari.
"We know that there cannot be any big steps towards the political settlement (in Syria - TASS) until the new US administration in Washington assumes responsibility," he said.
Steinmeier once again voiced concern over the bombing raids in Aleppo and pointed to the need to provide humanitarian aid for the city’s population. "The beginning of the bombing raids in eastern Aleppo again contributed to the escalation of this civil war, which has raged on for a long time," he stressed.
