"I probably did not select good time," Julia Castro said

LIMA, November 20. /TASS/. Peru’s police detained on Sunday local resident Julia Castro that attempted to hand over a gift - a sweater made by her small company - to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The detainee told about that on the air with local radio station RPP.

"I was there, on the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit venue, but cordoning was set everywhere later. I probably did not select good time because very serious security measures were taken in view of presence of presidents. As a result I was taken away to give testimony. Now I am in the police station in San Borja District (Lima)," Castro said.

The Russian leader is currently in the capital of Peru, where the APEC summit is taking place this weekend. 11,400 policemen support security of forum attendees. Apparently representatives of law enforcement agencies did not understand the fellow countrywoman’s desire and detained her as a precautionary measure.
