UN, November 18. /TASS/. The UN Security Council voted to extend by another year the mandate of inspectors charged with investigating chemical weapons attacks in Syria.
The resolution to extend the mandate of the so-called Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons was passed unanimously during the Council meeting late Thursday.
The document also condemns any use of toxic chemicals as weapons in Syria and reiterates Syria’s commitment to abstain from producing, storing and using chemical weapons.
