Trump may resume agreements with Russian on Syria — media
A source says the plan to set up a Geneva-based Joint Integration Center is likely to be presented to the president-elect
WASHINGTON, November 16. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump may resume earlier agreements with Russia about direct military coordination in Syria, The Washington Times said citing military and diplomatic sources.
"We were ready to go, and we can be ready to go again," a US defense official told the paper overnight on the condition of anonymity.
A diplomatic source said that the plan to set up a Geneva-based Joint Integration Center staffed by Russian and U.S. military officials is likely to be presented to the president-elect, but it was yet unknown whether his administration would embrace it.
The Kremlin press service said Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the US president-elect "both spoke of the need to work together in the struggle against the number one common enemy - international terrorism and extremism" in a phone conversation. "In this context, they discussed issues related to solving the crisis in Syria," the statement reads.
