Russian diplomat believes vote rigging in US elections is impossible
A diplomat stresses it is impossible to interfere in the results of the vote count
MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. The system of vote count in the US elections is protected, it is impossible to interfere in it, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Vladimir Churov told a news conference on the upcoming presidential election in the US.
"We have repeatedly tested the equipment with our American colleagues," Churov said. "Security of our and American voting equipment is approximately the same. An impact from outside is impossible. Information goes through special channels and has multi-staged control," Churov added.
"It is impossible to interfere in the results of the vote count," he stressed. However interference in campaigning of presidential hopefuls has become common practice, he said.
"Well-known American funds are financing in some countries not even dozens but hundreds of non-governmental orgaizations dealing with election campaigns. Russia doesn’t do this," he pointed in comments on media allegations.
Allegations about Moscow’s interference in the US election campaign have appeared in American media on a regular basis of late. In particular, representatives of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton have repeatedly alleged that hackers related to Russia are helping her rival, Republican candidate Donald Trump.
The presidential election in the US is due on Tuesday, November 8. In addition, elections will be held for all 435 seats in the US House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the Senate. Also, gubernatorial elections will be held in 12 states and two territories (Puerto Rico and American Samoa), and mayoral elections in 15 big cities.
