ROME, October 30. /TASS/. The metro in Rome is closed temporarily on Sunday for inspections after a strong earthquake in central Italy, ANSA said referring to Rome’s authorities.
The National Institute of Geophysics (INGV) said the magnitude reached 6.5 on the Richter scale. The quake caused major slides in the cities next to the epicenter. First of all additional damage was reported from the areas, which suffered a quake on October 26.
Some reports say about damaged cathedrals in Norcia.
The quake was registered at 07:40 local time at the border between Umbria and Marche, central Italy. Information on the injured is not available now.
