Second round of parliamentary election to be held in Georgia on Sunday

TBILISI, October 30. /TASS/. The second round of parliamentary election in Georgia will be held in 50 out of 73 single-seat constituencies on Sunday.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) said earlier that candidates from the Georgian Dream party won in 23 single-seat constituencies in the first round of election held on October 8. In the remaining 50 constituencies, no candidate managed to win more than the necessary 50% plus one vote.
A total of 2,229 polling stations will be open on Sunday in 50 constituencies from 8am local time until 8pm. The total number of eligible voters stands at 2.478 million people. In accordance with existing rules, the election will be recognized as valid at any voter turnout.
CEC reported that 221 observers from 10 international organizations and over 12,000 observers from 44 local organizations will monitor the second round of parliamentary elections. CEC is expected to announce the preliminary results of the voting in the early hours of October 31. The final results should be announced by November 18. The first session of the new parliament is scheduled for November 19.
The newly-elected parliament will include 150 deputies — 77 on party lists and 73 from single-seat constituencies.
