Russian aid convoy arrives in Donbass
It's the 57th Russian convoy for the Donbass region since mid-August of 2014
MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. The Russian Emergencies Ministry has delivered humanitarian aid to Ukraine’s Donetsk and Lugansk regions, the ministry’s press service informed TASS on Thursday.
"Over 40 vehicles that brought more than 400 tonnes of humanitarian cargo, mostly food and medications, have arrived in Lugansk and Donetsk," the press service said, adding that there were no unforeseen situations on their way. "The humanitarian cargo was delivered as usual," the ministry said.
All vehicles passed through the customs and border control on the Russian-Ukrainian border in the presence of representatives of Ukraine’s Customs and State Border Guard services. Both the vehicles and cargo accompanying documents were to be checked.
The vehicles are currently being unloaded in the presence of representatives of the local authorities who oversee the distribution of humanitarian aid, including among socially significant facilities of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. "As soon as the last vehicle is unloaded, all the convoy will immediately leave for the Rostov region," the ministry added.
This is the 57th Russian convoy for the Donbass region since mid-August of 2014. Within this period of time, more than 64,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which helped Donbass avoid a humanitarian disaster.
