Militants continue disrupting peace in Aleppo — Russia’s Defense Ministry
The terrorists continue disorderly shooting residential areas of the city and prevent the evacuation of civilians to safe areas
MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Terrorists continue to shoot residential quarters of the Syrian Aleppo and thwart evacuation of civilians from the city, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday.
"Aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force have not been carrying out any flight closer that the 10-kilometer zone around the city of Aleppo for 9 days. However, terrorists continue disorderly shooting residential areas of the city using makeshift rocket launchers, preventing evacuation of civilians through the current humanitarian corridors," the Ministry representative said.
A humanitarian pause has been in effect in Aleppo since October 20, although the Russian and Syrian combat planes stropped delivering air strikes in the area of the city back on October 18.
According to the UN data, there are about 8,000 moderate opposition fighters in Aleppo and also about 900 militants of Jabhat al-Nusra (a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia).
