BRUSSELS, October 21. /TASS/. No country initiated the discussion about new sanctions against Russia over the Syrian crisis at the EU summit in Brussels, Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern said following the first day of the EU leaders’ meeting.

"No one demanded sanctions this evening," he said.

According to Kern, all participants realize that the peace-making process in Syria is the issue of the highest priority now. "It is necessary to expand the cease-fire regime for international humanitarian organizations to be able to work," he added.
