The offensive that was reportedly launched by the Kiev forces, has been rebuffed

DONETSK, October 14. /TASS/. At least five Ukrainian servicemen were killed by Donbass militias in Kiev forces’ offensive near the village of Leninskoye in the south of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), representative of the DPR operational command, Eduard Basurin, said on Friday.

"A Ukrainian unit (company) made a penetration attempt. We knocked out one infantry combat vehicle, five Ukrainian servicemen were killed, a vehicle carrying ammunition was damaged," he told the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

Forces of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have repelled the offensive, the spokesman said.

"The offensive has been rebuffed but Ukrainian troops continue shelling of the DPR positions from 82mm and 120mm caliber mortars," the Donetsk News Agency quoted him as saying.

According to the DPR defense ministry, Ukrainian troops are now regrouping and evacuating the injured.

The DPR command urges the OSCE monitoring mission to take immediate steps to ensure the cessation of hostilities by the Ukrainian armed forces in the southern direction of the contact line.

On October 12, the Ukrainian military reportedly tried to break through the DPR defense line near the villages of Leninskoye and Kominternovo in Novoazovsky district. Mercenaries from Poland and Georgia allegedly took part in the attack on the Ukrainian side. The attack was rebuffed, with the Ukrainian army losses amounting to about 15 killed and more than 30 wounded.
