MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. The leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will approve the new secretary general of the regional assembly at their summit in Yerevan, Armenia, on October 14.

"This is a very important issue, but at the same time rather sensitive and delicate, the leaders will discuss it at a session behind closed doors," Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said on Thursday.

He reminded reporters about the earlier decision to rotate the OSCE secretary general every three years, choosing in turn a representative from one of the countries on the basis of the Russian alphabet. So the right to submit the candidacy first goes to Armenia.

A concrete candidate has been submitted. In the meantime, Russia’s Nikolai Bordyuzha remains incumbent secretary-general, Ushakov said. After the summit in Yerevan, the CSTO presidency will go from Armenia to Belarus.

The CSTO assembly groups Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
