At present, bilateral relations between Sweden and Russia are completely frozen as Sweden is among the most fervent supporters of sanctions against Russia

STOCKHOLM, October 13. /TASS/. Sweden’s Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom is ready for dialogue with her Russian counterpart ahead of the country’s membership in the UN Security Council starting from 2017, the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper reported.

"Ahead of our membership in the UN Security Council, it will be natural (for our country) to maintain contacts with other Council members at a political level. As I said before, I am ready for dialogue with my Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov," Wallstrom said in an interview with the Svenska Dagbladet.

At the same time, the newspaper stressed that "this isn’t about normalizing diplomatic ties." At present, bilateral relations between Sweden and Russia are completely frozen. Like the Baltic states and Poland, Sweden is among the most fervent supporters of sanctions against Russia.
