SIMFEROPOL, October 10 /TASS/. A delegation of Italian deputies is planning to meet Crimean leaders and entrepreneurs during a visit to the peninsula on October 14-15, a spokesman for Crimea’s State Council (parliament) told TASS on Monday.

"The Italian delegation will arrive in Crimea late on October 13. The delegation will meet Vladimir Konstantinov, the Crimean parliament speaker, at the republic’s State Council on October 14. An inter-parliamentary agreement is expected to be signed. Later in the day, the Italians will meet Crimea’s Head Sergey Aksyonov at the Council of Ministers," the source said adding the Italians would meet Crimean businessmen at the Livadia Palace in Yalta the same day.

On October 15, the delegation will visit the federal city of Sevastopol to meet the city’s acting governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov. The Italians will visit the Massandra winery the same day where they will have a chance to meet Crimean winemakers.

The Italian delegation will comprise deputies of several Italian provinces: Veneto, Lombardia, Liguria, Tuscany and Piedmont. Italian businessmen are expected to join the trip. Earlier, Luciano Sandona, a member of the Regional Council of the Italian province of Veneto, who is the Italian delegation’s member, told TASS that the trip was originally scheduled for October 13-16.

The Regional Council of Veneto was the first to adopt a resolution urging to lift sanctions on Russia and recognize Crimea’s status in May last year. Liguria and Lombardia were the next to pass similar resolutions. The Northern League and its ally Forza Italia (Forward, Italy) party as well as members of the Democratic Party, which runs at the national level, voted for the resolution in Liguria. The Regional Councils of Tuscany and Piedmont, in which the Democratic Party has a majority, were the last to support the sanctions relief initiative.
