Finland suspects two Russian military aircraft violated its airspace
The first alleged incident happened at 16:43 local time (same as Moscow), the second - at 21:33
HELSINKI, October 7. /TASS/. Two Russian fighter jets allegedly violated the air borders of Finland on Thursday, October 6, according to the Finnish Air Force.
"Russian SU-27 fighter suspected of having violated Finnish airspace in the afternoon on October 6. Later in the evening there was another suspected violation of airspace by the same aircraft type. The Air Force identified and described both machines," the Finnish Air Force said in a Friday statement.
The first alleged incident happened at 16:43 local time (same as Moscow), the second - at 21:33. "We are talking about two separate airplanes," the Air Force said, adding that the Finnish Border Guard is investigating the incident.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry denied reports about the first alleged violation of the country’s air space by the Russian aircraft. The Ministry said "all flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft were carried out in strict accordance with international regulations on the use of airspace over neutral waters, without violating the borders of other states.".
