The European Parliament and the Council should approve the issue futher
BRUSSELS, September 26. /TASS/. The European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on Monday approved plans to waive visa requirements for Ukrainian nationals entering the Schengen zone.
The issue will be further referred for approval by European Parliament and the Council. The European Parliament may consider this issue at its next session on October 3-6. Once visa cancellation approved by the Parliament and the Council, Ukrainian having biometric passports will need no visas to enter the European Union for 90 days in any 180-day period.
On December 18, 2015, the European Commission said that the European Union should offer visa-free short-stay travel within the Schengen zone for citizens of Ukraine, Georgia, and Kosovo. On September 5, the European Parliament’s committee voted in favor of lifting visa restrictions for the citizens of Georgia and Kosovo but refrained from voting on Ukraine saying it is to fulfil a number of additional requirements concerning anti-corruption measures.
