ALEPPO, September 26. /TASS/. Sappers in Aleppo are clearing the residential district of Ramouseh, liberated by the Syrian army three weeks ago, of numerous mines planted by insurgents in the area. Experts note that the devices were IEDs, which are one of the most difficult to neutralize.

“This IED is known as a trip-activated one. It will explode not only if you tear the cord, but even if you even tug at it. That’s why we destroy those on the spot," Adnan Qasem from the Syrian government forces said when demonstrating the explosive device he found near the entrance to what used to be a market.

Another improvised explosive device with a capacity of 0.5 kg of TNT was disguised as a tape recorder and equipped with a radio-controlled detonator. Insurgents use such booby-trapped bombs to carry out terrorist attacks. Sappers carefully extracted the IED and detonated it at a nearby waste disposal area. These bomb experts note that as a result of years of war, they have already learned the main methods of militants’ tactics and the structures of their IEDs.

Humanitarian cargoes with food and medicine go to Aleppo through Ramouseh. The Syrian army is trying to drive out all militants as far as possible and ensure the region’s security.

"Militants shell us every day. A projectile fell near the checkpoint just yesterday. We managed to avoid casualties only thanks to the fact that it did not explode. We blocked the road and detonated it. There are still many mines around, so sappers will have a lot of work. We are trying to demine the region as fast as possible, so that people can return here," Rami Hasun, the head of the local checkpoint said.

On Sunday, the Syrian army liberated the settlement of Handarat near Aleppo. However, the terrorists continue to attack Aleppo’s residential areas, and the intensity of the shelling has nearly doubled lately, the Syrian forces said.
