Residents of Ukraine's western Lvov region are allegedly ready to bring back the country's previous authorities "because they were able to make people’s lives better"

KIEV, September 20. /TASS/. People living in the Lvov region in western Ukraine are ready to return ousted president Viktor Yanukovich to power, claiming he was working for the people’s sake, the Ukrainian ‘News Daily’ quoted the Batkivshchina (Fatherland) party’s leader Yuliya Timoshenko as saying.

At the conciliation committee meeting in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament), she spoke about her recent visit to Lvov where she took part in a local book fair and spoke face to face with the public.

"Never in my life have I seen so many tears and such hopelessness, never have I heard such cursing!" Timoshenko said. "It was the first time that I heard people say that if the democratic forces that are in power at the moment are not fit to rule the country, then they should step down and bring back the previous, much cursed authorities, because they were able to make people’s lives better."

On top of that, the Batkivshchina leader added that Lvov’s residents called the current Ukrainian authorities’ policy ‘systematic genocide’.

Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich was ousted in February 2014 through violent means by the opposition that had organized mass protests in the country’s capital of Kiev. This wave of civil unrest known as the ‘Euromaidan’ boiled over into armed clashes.
