Chinese diplomat: Russian-US deal on Syria is important for crisis settlement

BEIJING, September 12. /TASS/. China welcomes the agreements reached by Moscow and Washington on a ceasefire in Syria, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying stated on Monday.
"China welcomes the agreement on Syria between Russia and the US. Ending violence is important for the political settlement of the crisis, as well as for the improvement of the humanitarian situation and the fight against terrorism. We call on all parties in Syria to comply with the ceasefire terms," she noted.
Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry coordinated a package of five documents in Geneva to establish a cessation of hostilities in Syria and lay the basis for the resumption of the political process. The package includes an agreement on separating the opposition from terrorists, air strikes against terrorists by and Russia and the US, procedures of reacting to ceasefire breaches and delivery of humanitarian aid badly needed by millions people. The ceasefire came into effect on Monday, September 12.
