Germany notes Minsk accords best diplomatic tool so far, but has limits

The German Foreign Ministry spokesman says if implementation of Minsk-2 ends in a deadlock, a need may emerge to look into other ways of solving the crisis

BERLIN, September 2. /TASS/. Berlin is not ruling out new avenues for settling the eastern Ukrainian crisis, but says the Minsk agreements is so far the best way to settle the conflict, German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Schaefer said on Friday.

"We, together with our French colleagues, are confident that the Minsk accord is the best instrument that we have for sorting out the conflict," he said. The spokesman noted, however, that the settlement’s possibilities "are not limitless" and if implementation of Minsk-2 ends in a deadlock, a need may emerge "to look into other ways of solving the crisis".
