KIEV, September 1 /TASS/. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Thursday sent a protest note to the Czech Embassy in Kiev following a decision of the city authorities in Ostrava, Northern Moravia, to register and open a representative center of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

"In view of confirmed reports about the registration of a representative center of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s by the local authorities in the Czech city of Ostrava and the holding of provocative public events, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has voiced protest and handed over a protest note to the embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine," the press service of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is expecting a reaction from the Czech authorities.

The names of individual Czech citizens who could be linked to the opening of the DPR’s representative center in Ostrava have been handed over to Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies for legal assessment and the application of mechanisms of bilateral legal assistance between Ukraine and the Czech Republic, the press service said.

A representative center of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) opened in the Czech city of Ostrava, Northern Moravia, earlier on Thursday.

"Its main aim is to spread the truth about this so far unrecognized country," DPR’s honorary consul in Ostrava Nella Liskova told TASS.

"It is the first DPR representation in the European Union," she said adding that Donetsk and Ostrava were twin cities, which are linked with traditional bonds of friendship and cooperation. "That is why it’s not at all accidental that Ostrava has been chosen as a place for the representation. We will contribute to expanding contacts between the DPR and the people of Ostrava and the entire Czech Republic. We will also help promoting direct ties among legal entities," Liskova said.

Liskova, who also chairs the Czech public organization "People’s Militia", said she was sure that the representation would contribute to establishing and developing DPR’s international cooperation in cultural, scientific, social and economic spheres." She added that the representation would also organize the delivery of relief aid to the DPR population.

The DPR representation, according to Liskova, has been registered in the Czech Republic as a non-commercial organization, which in fact is a representative center. One of its tasks is to seek the earliest international recognition of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

At the same time, a source at the Czech Foreign Ministry told TASS that the DPR representation center in Ostrava had no accreditation at the Czech Foreign Ministry. Therefore, it has no diplomatic status and cannot be headed by an honorary consul.

"The Czech Republic does not recognize the DPR and stands for full implementation of the Minsk Agreements," the Czech Foreign Ministry said.
