Turkey not to conclude ceasefire agreement with Syrian Kurds — official
Turkey’s EU Affairs Minister also pointed to the absence of any agreement between the Turkish armed forces and Syrian Kurds
ANKARA, August 31. /TASS/. Spokesman for the Turkish president Ibrahim Kalin said at a press conference on Wednesday that Turkey won’t conclude any agreements with the terrorist groupings of Syrian Kurds.
"There is no talk about ceasefire agreements with the Democratic Union party or with the People’s Self-Defense Forces. These are terrorist organizations," the spokesman said.
There can be no talk for Turkey to sign agreements with the Democratic Union or the People’s Self-Defense Forces, Kalin said.
Turkey’s EU Affairs Minister Omer Celik also pointed earlier on Wednesday to the absence of any agreement between the Turkish armed forces and Syrian Kurds.
"We categorically do not accept such statements, which originate from representatives of some states to the effect that Turkey has some ceasefire agreements with Kurdish forces," he said.
The minister noted that "it is impermissible to consider the sovereign Turkish Republic as equitable to the terrorist organization," which the Democratic Union is in Ankara’s opinion.
US and Syrian Kurds’ representatives reported earlier about an agreement allegedly reached between Turkey and the Democratic Union on the ceasefire.
