Former Ukrainian PM says Savchenko unable to resolve national crisis
Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Timoshenko notes Savchenko has never been a politician
KIEV, August 25. /TASS/. Former military pilot and currently member of the Verkhovna Rada, Nadiya (Nadezhda) Savchenko has never been a politician and does not have an ability to tap a way out of the crisis in Ukraine, the party leader, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Timoshenko said on Wednesday.
"Nadya has never been a politician, and you understand this," Timoshenko told Ukraina 112 channel on Wednesday. "She has never had the experience that’s necessary for understanding the in-depth processes of state construction or the profound aspects of pulling out of the crisis. She doesn’t have the knowledge of international politics and doesn’t understand many things and that’s only natural because she was an army servicewoman and she accumulated experience of a totally different kind."
Timoshenko believes it is time for Savchenko "to study, study and study" and "to take to the pathway of own personal moulding".
Nadezhda Savchenko, a former pilot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and firing point of the rightwing extremist Aidar battalion, was found guilty by a Russian court of involvement in the killing or Russian TV reporters Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin in the zone of the armed civil conflict in eastern Ukraine and of an illegal crossing of the Ukrainian-Russian border.
On March 22, 2016, the city court in Donetsk, Rostov region, sentenced her to 22 years in a general penitentiary. On May 25, President Vladimir Putin responded to a request from the relatives of the killed reporters and signed a decree on pardoning Savchenko.
She was taken to Ukraine by plane on the same day.
