China's Foreign Ministry notes Russia's important role in G20 summit work
Heads of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) will hold an informal meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in September
BEIJING, August 15. /TASS/. Russia plays a constructive role in the work of the G20 summit in Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province, East China), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Li Baodong told TASS on Monday.
"Russia is a major participant in the G20. Over the years, it has played an important constructive role," he said.
"This year in Hangzhou we maintain close coordination and cooperation. We expect that the president of Russia Vladimir Putin will take part in the summit in Hangzhou," he added.
The deputy minister said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin often meet at various events. According to him, details of the meeting between the two leaders "on the sidelines" of the summit are being worked out.
According to the diplomat, "heads of BRICS countries will hold an informal meeting where Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a speech."
G20 Summit in Hangzhou is scheduled for September 4-5. According to the event organizers, the main topic of the summit will be to find new ways of development of the world economy.
