Belarus leader notes importance of defense cooperation with Russia, CSTO

MINSK, July 1. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday defense cooperation with Russia, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is very important for his country.

"Today, our troops are in in constant combat readiness and are capable to repel any aggressor, especially relying on the might of the army of our brotherly Russia," Lukashenko said at a meeting on the occasion of Belarus’ Independence Day.

According to the Belarusian leader, a major factor of security is cooperation with member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. "I am confident that only this way we can enhance Belarus’ national defense capacity and prosperity," he said.

Apart from that, in his words, of major importance now is all-round partnership with China and Belarus is expanding cooperation with that country in both the economic and defense spheres.
