DPR negotiator sees no chances to hold Donbass elections by year end
A DPR official says nothing is ready for the elections
MOSCOW, June 30. /TASS/. This year it will be impossible to hold elections in Ukraine’s south-eastern Donbass region, Denis Pushilin, the chief negotiator for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said on Thursday.
"The chances of holding the elections this year after a search for compromise are nil," he said at a roundtable discussion at TASS on the issue: "Minsk agreements: the results of the first six months and forecast until the end of 2016."
The DPR representative said that despite the fact that in late 2015 the task was set to hold the elections in the region in the first half of the year, it will be impossible to do that. "The first six months does not make us optimistic," he said. "Because there have been statements that the elections should take place in July, but nothing is ready for them."
