TBILISI, June 8. /TASS/. Georgian Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili has put his signature to President Georgy Margvelashvili’s order to call parliamentary election on October 8, 2016, the prime minister’s staff has said, thereby heralding the official start of the election campaign.

Kvirikashvili, currently in Batumi, told the media he "countersigned President Georgy Margvelashvili’s order."

"The election period began in Georgia today," he said.

"The election race standard in Georgia has been fundamentally improved," he recalled, adding that "all these steps are aimed at enhancing democracy."
