Ukrainian army shells Donetsk northern outskirts with mortar bombs

The Ukrainian side shelled Spartak, Zhabichevo and Sakhanka from 120mm and 82 mm mortars

MOSCOW, May 22 /TASS/. The Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the villages of Spartak and Zhabichevo, located to the north of Donetsk, with mortar bombs this night. The Sakhanka populated locality in the Novoazovsky district of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic /DPR/ also came under Ukrainian mortar fire, a DPR security source told the Donetsk News Agency on Sunday.

"The Ukrainian side shelled Spartak, Zhabichevo and Sakhanka from 120mm and 82 mm mortars from 22:30 to 01:00 the past night," the source said.

According to the source, the Ukrainian army fired fifteen 82 mm mortar shells and six 120 mm mortar bombs from its positions.

Earlier, the DPR reported that DPR’s districts near the line of contact were shelled more than 200 times during the previous 24 hours.

The Contact Group for the Ukraine settlement agreed to establish a new "silence regime" as of midnight on April 30 at its meeting in Minsk on April 29. But the sides in conflict continue to accuse each other of truce violations.
