KUWAIT CITY, April 23. /TASS/. The Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization (banned in Russia) has captured the pilot of a Syrian warplane which crashed south-east of Damascus on Friday, Reuters reported on Saturday.
"The pilot, called Azzam Eid, from Hama was captured after he fell by parachute near the site where his plane crashed east of Damascus," Reuters quoted the IS affiliated news agency as saying.
Western media reported on Friday that a Syrian warplane crashed near Damascus in the region controlled by IS militants. Sky New Arabia TV channel said that the warplane belonged to Syrian Armed Forces but provided no further details on the type of aircraft or causes of the crash.
