KIEV, April 12. /TASS/. The Ukrainian prosecutor general’s office has confirmed on Tuesday it is probing into a case of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s taking a $3mln bribe.
The 112 Ukraina television channel on Tuesday posted on its website a photocopy of an official reply from the prosecutor general’s office to an inquiry of lawmaker Dmitry Dobrodomov.
The prosecutor general’s office said it is conducting a pre-trial investigation of the circumstances of Yatsenyuk’s appointing Vladimir Ishchuk as chief of the Ukrainian state radio and television concern.
According to the document, the case was initiated and registered on March 15, 2016. Investigation is underway.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Sunday he is stepping down as Ukraine’s prime minister. Resignation papers have been referred to the Verkhovna Rada. His resignation has offered a chance to set up a new coalition in the parliament and form a new government and thus finally resolve the political crisis that erupted after the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) failed to send him to resignation for unsatisfactory work in February.
